oz cream cheese, softened

cup orange marmalade

diagonally cut slices (1/2 inch thick) French bread

                        cup Original Bisquick™ mix

2/3

cup milk

teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2

teaspoon grated orange peel

1/2

teaspoon vanilla

1

egg

1

tablespoon powdered sugar

Maple-flavored syrup, if desired

Preparation

In small bowl, mix cream cheese and marmalade until blended. Spread 8 slices of the bread with cream cheese mixture. Top each with 1 of the remaining bread slices, making 8 sandwiches.

In shallow dish or pie pan, stir Bisquick mix, milk, cinnamon, orange peel, vanilla and egg with whisk or fork until blended.

Heat nonstick griddle to 350°F or nonstick skillet over medium heat. Dip each sandwich into batter mixture, turning to coat both sides; drain excess batter in dish. Cook on hot griddle or skillet 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Sprinkle each sandwich with powdered sugar; serve with syrup.
